Volunteer: Meat Packaging Teams

Join Our Meat Packing Team – Make a Huge Impact in Just a Few Hours!

What started as a small effort has grown into one of the Interfaith Food Pantry’s most powerful programs. When we first launched our chicken and beef packing project, we hoped it might save about $50,000 a year. Today, thanks to the dedication of volunteers like you, our savings have nearly doubled – reaching close to $100,000! That means more food, more choice, and more dignity for our neighbors in need.

We’ve also expanded our efforts to include Halal chicken, ensuring our Muslim customers are served with respect and care. Each packing session provides enough meat to nourish families for two whole months – that’s an incredible impact from just one afternoon of teamwork.

Here’s how it works:

We pack once a month, alternating between chicken and beef.

A full crew of 12 volunteers can get everything done in just 2 ½ to 3 hours.

Together, we make sure hundreds of families in our community have healthy, high-quality protein on their tables.

✨ It’s fast, it’s fun, and it makes a real difference. Come join us, roll up your sleeves, and help us keep this life-changing program going strong!

Volunteer: Senior Food Packing Team

About the Role:
We’re looking for three caring, dependable volunteers to join our team and help provide food for 22 seniors in our community who don’t have transportation. These seniors currently receive prepared meals from the NRV Agency on Aging, but recent budget cuts have reduced how often those meals are delivered. Our goal is to make sure they still have plenty to eat and know their community cares about them.

What You’ll Do:

Help pack bags of food for our senior neighbors — we’ll pack for half the group twice a month.

Work together to make sure each bag is filled with nutritious items.

Meet the delivery driver at the food pantry to hand off the packed bags.

Time Commitment:

Twice a month (specific dates to be determined).

Packing times are flexible and coordinated with the driver’s schedule.

Who We’re Looking For:

Friendly, reliable volunteers who enjoy helping others.

Comfortable lifting and carrying grocery bags (up to about 25 lbs).

Team players who care about supporting our senior community.

Why It Matters:
A few hours of your time can make a huge difference in the lives of local seniors who might otherwise go without enough food. You’ll be helping them feel seen, supported, and valued — and you’ll be part of a team that’s feeding both body and spirit.

Program: Customer Service Teams

Would you like to volunteer at the Food Pantry but you can't commit to a regular time?  Are you already serving at the pantry and just can't wait to serve again?

We are seeking volunteers to work on the 5th Wednesdays during the year.  This team of volunteers will help our customers shop for their groceries.  Some say that this is the best job of all at the Food Pantry.  Are you interested?
