What We Do
The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry (BIFP) was founded on October 15, 1987, to address food insecurity for families of Blacksburg and McCoy. The food pantry is run entirely by volunteers. There are no paid staff members. All client needs are met through cash and food donations.
Eligible families received a week's worth of groceries each month. Our hours of operation are Monday and Tuesdays, 4:00 to 5:30 pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 - 11:30 am. Clients shop for food with a pantry volunteer in the same manner as a grocery store. Food choices and amounts are designated by the pantry based on the family size.
Volunteers serve on a rotating schedule throughout the month.
